The Best Three New England Made Rums for the Summer

Boston and Medford use to be the rum producing capitols of the world. Yup, it is true. Google it, I will wait….

So in that great tradition, we now see many locally made rums popping up. They are the highest quality products, and often spice forward in flavor.

In the past, rums used spice to hide flaws where today, they shine and complement great products. Here are three of our favorites.

20 Boat Spiced Rum
Truro Winery and South Hollow Spirits
Truro, MA

A spice heavy rum, and it helps that the world renowned spice shop Atlantic Spice Company is right down the road. This rum is infused with chai tea, heavy notes of cardamom, vanilla bean and cinnamon. All organic ingredient result in a high quality product.

Privateer Rum
Privateer International
Ipswich, MA

Very popular all over New England, Privateer Rum is a pristine product that lends it self as the perfect foundation to cocktails, which is why it is found behind most bars.

Flag Hill Winery and Distillery
Signature Spiced Rum
Lee, NH

If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain, this rum is for you, The vanilla will hit you hard without overwhelming you with sweetness. This would be great over ice, but if you put it in any mixed drink, it will stand out.
