Come at me with all the emails and suggestions and places I forgot, because I love to see all the passion around peoples’ love of wings. The fact is I can only talk about the places I have been, and mention places I can suggest who represent the style they are doing.
I also LOVE to talk about places that are excellent and are not getting enough attention!
Yes, go to Kowloon’s and get the Saugus Wings, but everyone knows about them. With a few exceptions, this list is made up of lesser known places that are executing on great wings.
Angela’s CFP, Saugus
What i will forever call Sicilian Style. They are marinated in lemon, olive oil, salt and pepper and then roasted in the oven. Topped with caramelized onions and a side of focaccia bread.
BonChon, Allston
The Korean Fried chicken is double cooked and the sauce is painted on. I love the honey teriyaki glaze. A side of pickled radishes is a refreshing side as well.
Wendell’s, Norton
Yes, this is probably the iconic place you have heard about on this list, but have you visited? When you see those wooden bowls you know it is sauced by the shake method at Wendell’s. And Kerry Byrne would curse my name if I didn’t add them, as well as use his beauty shot (first photo) in my praise for their wings!
Dunn Gaherin’s, Newton
One of the most underrated spots for wings, and if they are offering the Satay Glaze, that is definitely the move.
Red Heat Tavern, Wilmington
Never underestimate the power of consistently good wings. Red Heat Tavern of Bedford Wings in sweet Thai chili sauce with sriracha mayo are my jam. Balanced flavors and perfectly cooked. Don’t sleep on their buffalo wigs either.
Kinfolks BBQ, Taunton
EVERYONE raved about the wings at Kinfolks and I always got their BBQ when I went. SO when I finally got their wings, I understood why they were so freak’in awesome! I put half in the fridge and had it 6 hours later and it tasted even better!
Galliford’s at the Southwick Zoo
Between (in order) Duck, Buffalo and Garlic Parm wings, somebody in their kitchen has some solid mojo at work. I have been multiple times with different people and we all agreed they are a worthy mention.
Greyhound Tavern, Bridgewater
I crushed these bad boys once a week for almost a year. Need I say more? And yes, they accommodated my request for “sauce on the side” insanity.
Bistro781, Waltham
More people need to talk about everything from Bistro 781, but for me, the wings are a must, Baked chicken wings with a Sweet & Spicy BBQ Rub. and props to them for offering a beer can chicken!
Double Chin, Chinatown
Cola wings, Ramen Wings and a slew of other perfectly cooked and super Instagram worthy wings make this a must try spot for wing lovers.
Picco, Boston
Pizza and wings go hand in hand, but this gets taken to the next level. Oven roasted chili dry rubbed goodness.
Crispi’s Bridgewater
Never would have thought an Italian restaurant would have wings on the menu, let alone do them this well. My personal favorite were the garlic parm, but they also offer buffalo and Sam Adams marinated as well.
